Love is Wicked: Album Review
THE ladies of Brick & Lace were not brought together by a record company and artificially presented as “overnight sensations”. These women are the genuine articles. Brick & Lace are sisters Nyanda and Nailah Thorbourne, and they are dynamic artistes and great songwriters – they wrote or co-wrote almost every song on Love is Wicked. And they’ve penned hits for the likes of Janet Jackson, Paris Hilton and, most recently, for Nicole Scherzinger’s (of the Pussycat Dolls) solo project.
To give Love is Wicked its versatile sound, the sisters teamed up with Akon as well as a slew of other serious hit-making producers, most notably Will.I.Am, Tony “CD” Kelly and Cool & Dre.
The debut album offers everything from unique Caribbean music, gospel and country to contemporary R&B and hip-hop that’s laced with Jamaican and dance hall rhythms.
Tracks that I particularly like include Boyfriend, a female empowerment song that runs contrary to the typical clichéd story of a girl blindly in love with the wrong guy, the bump and grind Push It Up and the Bob Marley-esque Buss a Shot.
The emotional power of Love is Wicked is so strong you can almost smell it. These talented soul sistas rule!

Short and sweet! I enjoyed the album myself from the leak. I can’t wait for them to “buss”.
I love every single song on the album. Nothing feels like filler. Of course “Never, Never” and “Get That Clear” are old, but everything else is ON POINT!
Beautiful vocals and nice lyrics!
Jamaica is proud of Brick and Lace!!
